General: At CBE we expect our relationships with our customers to be a bit customized. Whether you need parts, service or want to take advantage of working with us on your machine, we’ll strive to make the experience fun for you and for us. The following rates are indicative of the flexibility we can provide you in enjoying your classic bike. As you will see, the approach is a bit novel and we expect our customers to work with us on keeping our shop safe, fun and, yes, profitable. You will need to sign a liability release to work in the shop and, in special cases, a note from your mother stating you work well in the sandbox with the other kids. Keep in mind that scheduling of available shop time will be at the discretion of CBE as we are all part time, but evenings and weekends should be in play regularly.
CBE Service & Restorations: We do all the work and are responsible for the overall quality of the final work product.
Please note that for long term restorations that require more than 40 hours of CBE labor, we can arrange a sliding scale. Nominally, the first 40 hours will be billed at $75/hr, hours 41-80 at $60/hr and hours 81+ will be at $50/hour.
Relationship Customer: You work on your bike in our shop. You have an ongoing relationship with CBE as a customer and would like access to the shop to work on your bike for either service, special help or complete restoration. We expect you to source a large percentage of your parts and special services through CBE. In this case, you are responsible for the overall quality of the work product. You will likely buy some labor hours from CBE mechanics to assist from time to time. You will buy a membership for $250 for the first 8 hours, then $20/hr thereafter. We will limit the number of relationship customers if necessary to make sure there is adequate shop time available.
Non Relationship Customer: This doesn’t mean we don’t love you, it simple means you are not regularly buying parts and services from us. You likely have a non British bike and are looking for a warm, dry shop with some tools and coffee to get things fettled. You may or may not ask us for help.
Before and after shots of a "barn fresh" 1969 BSA 441 restoration. CBE can let you get your hands dirty in our shop wrenching away during those long winter months!
