Sell Your Bike with CBE

THE BASICS   At CBE, we will sell your bike for a 20% consignment fee.  For that 20%, we can get very creative in how we help you sell the bike and take the hassle out of it for you.

Click here for our consignment sales terms and conditions agreement.

Here are 10 reasons selling your bike with CBE makes sense:

  1. We know how to properly assess your bike's condition and market value using industry metrics and data.  Properly priced, there is no reason to take less for your machine.  The #1 reason people don't do well selling their bikes is poor assessment and pricing - either too high (not enough buyers interested) or too low (giving money away).
  2. Buyers will look at us as a more knowledgeable and reputable seller than an individual, no matter how many notes you give them from you mother.  It's your hobby...it's our business.
  3. It will be perceived as a lower risk transaction from your buyer....any parts and service they would immediately need are available from CBE.
  4. We have an ACTIVE customer data base of 400 regional names.  These are guys and gals who have been on Frank's mailing list or have met us and/or contacted us and ASKED to be on our mailing list for things like......wait for it......bikes that come on the market.  Many of these individuals tell us specific bikes they are looking for.
  5. You can display your machine in some unique settings.  For starters, room permitting, you can display it in our shop while you/we get it cleaned and ready.  If it is a Condition 3 or better bike, we are invited to display CBE bikes in various venues around town, like car dealerships.  They just like the draw the bikes provide and we can put CBE promo stuff on them....including that they are for sale.
  6. We can bundle Relationship Packages (see our labor rates page) and Parts in your sell price to position your bike as a 'project' bike someone could work on in our shop.
  7. We will list your bike on our website.
  8. We will promote your bike in our enewsletter
  9. We may opt to list your bike on Craig's List, eBay, Walnecks and/or a number of owner's groups around the country (and yes, the world....many bikes are making there way back to jolly old England and Australia for example, due to the exchange rate). You pay no advertising or listing fees.
  10. You don't have to answer all the stupid emails and questions about VIN's, model numbers, or listen to all the nit-pickers who want to remind you that your 850 Commando does not have the proper headers for that year, blah, blah, blah.
  11. Hey, so there are more than 10 reasons....we like to exceed our customer's expectations!  #11.  We can make arrangements for shipping your bike.  For a lot of reasons, dealing with freight guys and shipping from a bike shop is a lot easier than doing it from your home.
  12. We will work up an itemized sales plan with you so you know what we are doing and when.
  13. You are welcome to spend time in our shop, at no charge, cleaning and polishing the old girl to get 're ready for the prom.  Any parts and repairs would be per our normal rates, natch.

A Little Fine Print:  We are NOT a dealer of bikes.  You hold the title and the sale is from you to the buyer.  And fair is fair - we don't charge listing fees, so we ask you work with us somewhat exclusively during the time we are actively trying to sell your bike for you.  We do occasionally buy machines for projects if you want to sell outright to a good home.  And,our town permit does not allow selling of bikes from our facility.  So, if you bike is with us at that location, it will need to be there for service as well.
Mark with a 1970 Commando in need of some TLC
Are you ready to sell you classic bike?  Classic bikes hold there value and there is a good market for them, even in the off season.  The key is to price it right and to demonstrate to the seller that you know what you are selling them....the good, the bad and the ugly.  Think about it - well written profiles on EBay with lots of pics do much better than terse one-liners and fuzzy photos.  With CBE, you can sell you bike without all the hassle and give your buyer confidence in their purchase.
