Available Bikes

The following thumbnails will give you a feel for what the bike and/or project entails.  We price our machines based on a wonderful guide published by the Vintage Japanese & European Motorcycle Club.  The annual guide sells for $10 a copy and is available through their website.  We use their Condition 1 to Condition 6 descriptions in our assessments.

Most of these bikes are customer consignment bikes.  While we believe we have priced them fairly, we are obligated to present any reasonable offer to the seller you would like to make.  Our preference is to sell them locally or regionally, but in some cases we will post on eBay or other sites at the owner's request.

  • Consignment Sales History

Some bikes sell within days, others take months.  It all boils down to finding the right buyer who is looking for your bike and vice versa.  To date, the following bikes have sold through our consignment program:

    • 69 441 BSA Victor Special
    • 67 Triumph Mtn Cub
    • 77 Bonnie
    • 78 Bonnie
    • 77 Triumph TR7
    • 73 Triumph TR7
    • 73 Norton Commando Roadster
    • 72 Norton Commando Interstate
    • 71 Norton Commando Roadster
    • 74 Triumph Trident
    • 69 & 74 Trident together
    • 67 BSA A65 Thunderbolt

  • 1971 Norton Commando 750 Roadster

We are building a 1975 MK III Electric Start Commando in "Blue Stripe" trim (Blue Stripe paint scheme can be seen on Jack's Norton on the hompage) .  The bike should be ready by Memorial Day.  This bike is a low mileage, matching numbers machine.  Doesn't need much as it was one of the cleanest and least molested we've seen in a while.  We are going through the entire bike, however, including complete tear down of motor, gearbox and primary.

We are building the bike back to largely stock configuration as a Condition 2 to 2.5.  If you are interested in the machine, we can do any upgrades you might like and can do different paint as well.  It could also be configured to a "Gus" spec (see below) if that floats your boat.

The 75 Commando's are appreciating in value faster than other Nortons as we old farts get artificial hips and like eStart vs kick start.  They also boast a rear disc brake, left hand shift as well as some other nicities like built in anti sump valve in the timing cover.   As you likely know, 75 was the last, and only, year these features were offered.  There just aren't that many of them around.

  • 1973  Triumph T100R Daytona

Triumph DaytonaSweet, sweet 500 Daytona. Restored a few years ago for a gentlemen in NH who needs to thin his herd of bikes a bit.  The machine was serviced in the spring by CBE and, as the motor had very few miles on it from the rebuild, we were asked to ride it as much as possible.....uh, OK :)  The 73's have the benefit of directional signals and twin leading shoe front brake.  The bike goes as good as it looks and it looks very, very good.

500's are a breeze to kick over, are lighter than the 650/750/850s  and make a good starter bike for someone new to the classic scene.  They will easily keep up with high speed traffic, but the secondary roads are where you'll want to spend your time on this beauty.  We'll set up a Shutterfly site with more pics soon.  This is a Condition 2 plus bike.  2009 VJEMC price guideline has it at $7800.

     $6400

  • 1967 BSA A65 Spitfire MK III

Captain Jack just had to have a Spitfire before he died....that way he'd own an 850 Norton, a 750 Triumph and a 650 BSA all at once and there would be harmony in the universe.  Well, mission accomplished, but he now has more bikes than brains so something has to go.

This is a 3 adult owner (words of previous owner, 77 years of age) with 8600 miles on the clock which should be accurate.  We are told it has a period 750 big bore kit installed and it certainly sounds like it.  If you own a bike shop and want to fix a bike, you do it right.  This BSA now has two new Amal 32mm carbs, wiring harness, electronic ignition, solid state voltage regulator, and halogen headlight.  Previous owner installed a nice oil cooler and dual Fiam horns that will impress most semi drivers. Starts and run great.  I left some minor cosmetic stuff for you to tinker with as well.

The machine is a solid Condition 3 with new paint on the tank and side covers along with a new seat that really pop.

    $6500

  • 1970 Triumph T120R Bonneville 650

Locally owned quintessential Bonnie.  Bought from old Lloyd Provin in Pittsford back in the day.  Been run regularly for the past several years, but the owner has some physical limitations where he can no longer operate the bike.

We don't have to tell you where the 69/70 Bonnies fit on the wished-for scale of British bikes.  This machine is a nice patina Condition 3 with recent, correct, paint on the tank and fenders.  You can enjoy the bike this season and do some cosmetic restoration work this winter if you want to.   11,000 miles.  2009 VJMEC price guideline has it at $8000.

    $6800

  • 1982 Triumph T140ES Royal Wedding

This is a truly unique Classic British Motorcycle - a 1982 Triumph Royal Wedding T140ES.  Condition 2 plus.   This bike is one of the 250 produced in the final days of the old Meriden Triumphs.  The bike is owned by Ken Bassett of Vermont.  He has had the machine since 1986 as the second owner.  His tale of painstaking modifications to make this machine a true Gentleman's Express is told in the attached website:

    http://thegentlemansexpress.shutterfly.com/

This is a rare bike with very well integrated and high quality modifications that improve on the performance and, to most of us, the look and feel of the machine.  On the other hand, if you prefer the stock configuration, the original tank, side covers, etc. are available included.  The machine is well known in classic bike circles and has won many awards.

The bike is meant to be ridden
.  You can hop on and go to the corner store, a Sunday run for a few hours...or 1000 miles in a few days...and get back again worry free.  It features nice amenities like electric start, Norman Hyde rearsets and integrated panniers that look the part.  It needs nothing......except a new owner.  Ken is on to other projects and has been kind enough to let The Classic Bike Experience represent his bike as sales agent.

Please check out the above Shutterfly website for additional information, pictures, pricing details and availability.

  • 1966 BSA 441 Victor Enduro

This is another bike owned by our Service Manager, Welby.  And, like the Norton, it comes from a very good home obviously.  We have recently raised the price slightly as Welby has done a top end job on it.  Condition 2 Victor ready to go.  More info and pics on the Shutterfly website below:

Getting a bike through CBE is different....

Many of our customers ask us to keep an eye out for bikes for them.  Commandos are a favorite, but we have leads on many machines.  We can connect you with a bike, either running or not, and include shop hours and/or a restoration package to work on it yourself in our shop, your shop, or a combination of both.  Most importantly, it is a lower risk approach to scoring your classic bike experience.  Bikes will be changing over time, so check back often.

Please contact us if you want to see any of these bikes as many are at unique locations like car dealerships, etc.  Our use permit with Essex does not allow us to "sell" bikes from this facility.  However, they all need work so we keep them around until service and clean up are done.
